Rubens Barrichello has had to admit that he has opened talks with Williams with regards to a new drive in the Formula 1 2010 season. Rumours have been circulating the internet since the weekend around whether or not Ruben’s has already signed with Williams, with some quoting a $8,000,000 pay cheque for one year. Barrichello said:
“I haven’t signed with anybody yet, but it’s true that I’m talking with Williams and Brawn”
Barrichello’s relationship with Brawn GP has been up and down throughout the 2009 season. The driver had been suspicious of his bad luck during the first half, alluding to the fact that his boss (Ross Brawn) maybe siding with his team mate, Jenson Button.
Until now, Brawn has denied any driver preference, allowing them to race with each other. Barrichello has enjoyed more wins in the latter part of the season than his team mate Button, yet still trails him by 14 points with 2 races to go. Many speculated that if Barrichello was to end up winning the drivers championship, Brawn would be silly to let him go. However, he would need a large drop of luck to pip Button at this point.
